Your donation goes directly towards Maryam Dawas, a critically ill and malnourished 9-year-old girl, and her family. Maryam and her family have been displaced over twelve times since the war began. After walking, paddling, and moving in extreme heat through rubble, they now live in a tent.
Maryam has a serious Celiac disorder. The majority of her intestinal track is severely damaged. In Gaza’s conditions, this is life-threatening. Fresh food is almost non-existent; much of what is available is expired, she does not have full access to the medical care she requires for recovery. As a result she is severely malnourished and suffers from protein malabsorption which is deadly.
Much of the very limited food that enters gaza is primarily gluten-based, expired, tampered, and unsuitable. Maryam’s diet is restricted to limited non-gluten produce, canned fruits; scarce and costly. There are limited availability of fresh fruits and vegetables and those that are available come at enormously high costs. In Gaza, the cost of survival is staggering. A simple grocery list for Maryam’s family: baby tomatoes, cucumbers, lentils, rice, nappies, baby formula, and a few essentials, comes to $260, compared to just $50–$90 in the UK, Europe, or the US. Prices have soared due to the blockade, destroyed trade routes, and scarce supplies, forcing families to pay many times more for basic food and baby items. Every dollar donated goes directly towards keeping Maryam and her family nourished and alive in these devastating conditions.
-
Donations support Maryam family’s most urgent needs, from food, clean water, and therapeutic nutrition for Maryam’s severe malnutrition, to infant care for her one and a half year old twin brothers with formula and hygiene essentials. Funds also cover communication costs to stay connected with aid workers and doctors for their telephone, basic survival items like clothing and blankets.

All funds raised go directly to Maryam’s father, Abdulaziz Dawas, the family’s verified beneficiary and sole breadwinner. We facilitate these transfers to ensure they reach him safely and without delay. Abdulaziz is currently unable to work due to the war and displacement, and is caring for Maryam, his wife, and their children under extremely difficult conditions.
Your support directly impacts Maryam Dawas (9), who is fighting for her life, and her family: her older brother (14); her one-year-old twin brothers; her mother, a full-time caregiver who risks her safety daily to collect aid and has been injured multiple times doing so; and her father Abdelaziz, a former bricklayer now unemployed due to the war. You are also helping their extended family, including Maryam’s grandparents, who share the same precarious living conditions. Maryam is visibly wasting away, and the family is struggling to survive. Every contribution goes towards keeping them alive, and any remaining funds support other displaced families nearby with water, food, and tents for basic survival.
